Staff
Brenna Fletcher – Online Editor
Brenna Fletcher is currently a senior in CORE. She has been blogging for Le Sabre since 10th grade, and writing for Le Sabre since 11th grade. Brenna enjoys writing about social issues such as race and gender equality. When she’s not writing for the music blog or babysitting her crazy siblings, you can find her painting, hanging out with her boyfriend, or searching for new bands to listen to.
Nora Landes – Editor In Chief
Chock full of caffeine and creativity, Nora Landes is Le Sabre’s Editor-in-Chief. When she is not busy writing in-depth, analytical essays, staring at Mr. Linn’s shoes, or on the tennis court practicing with the girls’ tennis team, Nora can usually be found discussing the complexity of Patti Smith’s music, enjoying the afternoon at an art museum, or making eloquent, witty remarks. Nora believes her identity as an art nerd will not interfere with her ability to be a totally fab editor.
Cyril Mabagos – Business Manager
Cyril Mabagos, a current a senior, has been a student of Cleveland High School for the past four years. As business manager of Le Sabre, Mabagos is responsible for promoting and fundraising for the school newspaper. She tends to blurt out the weirdest things on a daily basis. Despite the fact that she likes to live in her own little world, she is smarter than your average Asian. With the desire to gain as much knowledge and wisdom as possible, she considers it her mission to explore the unknown for that is the greatest adventure.
Gwendolyn Wu – Sports Editor
The occasionally sarcastic Gwendolyn Wu, also known as Gwen, happens to be a sophomore here at Cleveland, and the blushing sports editor of Le Sabre. In addition to making whiny comments about her not-so-heavy courseload in CORE 10, and procrastinating by playing League of Legends, she adores witty banter and joining conversations by being an awkward turtle. She’ll gladly pick up any book as long as it exceeds 100 pages, and add embellishments to concise sentences, as long as there’s some form of sugar on the side. Her vocabulary is supposedly too large and her immense love for looking up random figures in history on Wikipedia makes trying to finish math analysis homework too trying. Gwen’s best friend insists she’s short, although she stands at a whopping five foot four. When not trying to frantically finish homework or daydreaming (okay, or maybe during that), she can be found in lovers’ lane, or chilling with other sophomores by the mouth of D-Hall.
Denisse Jimenez – Staff Writer
Denisse Jimenez is currently a senior in Cleveland’s humanities magnet. This is her first year writing in the Le Sabre school newspaper. She enjoys reading books by Susane Colasanti and is into all this romantic books. Her goal is to survive 12th grade Core and hopefully be able to attend St. John University in New York and become a journalist in the future. She was a current member of Drill Team. She loves to discover new bands and give any type of music a try. One last thing is she absolutely loves getting those unexpected text from those unexpected people she hasn’t talked to in a while.
Blessing Jee – News Editor
Blessing Jee is currently a junior in CORE and is Le Sabre’s news editor for this year. She has many goals in life, ranging from reading all the Jane Austen books to jumping off the world’s highest bridge in South Africa to publishing a New York Times Bestseller. With her mug of coffee in-hand and her pen in the other, Blessing has a surprising amount of energy and is ready to do anything (well, most things), despite her routinely lack of sleep. She is often lost in clouds and swirls of thought, but is always be willing to listen to other people. Most importantly, she loves journalism and is looking forward to an exciting and productive year!
Elia Choi – Staff Writer
Elia Choi is a senior who writes for the Le Sabre journalism, at Cleveland High School. Her main goal in life is to become a professional astronaut and explore outer space. She loves eating. Whenever found in her natural state, she will most likely have food in her hand.
Suzy Nam – Staff Writer
Suzy Nam is a senior who likes to write for the Features column. This is her first year writing for the newspaper, and she hopes to bring light to fun issues that relate to your average teenager. Suzy has recently found her addiction to tumblr, particularly attracted by meme comics. One thing she loathes is writer’s block.
Features Editor: Jolena Collás
Jolena Collás is one of many reporters of the Le Sabre journalism staff. She is a sophmore here at Cleveland. Although new to the newspaper, she is not new to journalism. She has a passion for writing and a love of discovering the truth. You will be seeing a lot of both her and the rest of the Le Sabre staff this year.
Entertainment Editor- Summer Mason
Summer Mason is a junior at Cleveland High School and is the entertainment editor for the newspaper. When people laugh at her she usually joins in. Typically she will do the exact opposite of what you tell her to do, and then some. She is a movie buff; her favorite movies are the Star Wars trilogy (the early episodes). When it comes to her goals she is never the first to walk through the doors which say “easy”. Instead she walks down the hall, turns left, sneaks in the janitor closet to eat a sandwich, continues going left, and then runs down 4 flights of stairs until she approaches the door which says “complex”. She is consistently jumping over obstacles and not yet ready to press pause on the undeveloped film. Oh and she loathes when people say: “What are you doing here, its winter? Do you have a sister named autumn?”
